The next step in funding for water security is to set up more tanks to store water and to have a solar pump to fill the tanks.
In March 2023 the water supply at Upward Junior school required immediate attention. The school was facing the critical issue of water supply due to the breakdown of water system within the Bweyale Town Council. As a school community without water, the school would have to close.
The provision of emergency water from the district water truck, filling the school tanks, was not reliable as everyone needed water. AAI supporters responded to this urgent need, providing funds to drill a bore.
This short clip shows the determination of Ps Sula to keep the school open, filling enough jerry cans from a nearby bore pump so the children have water for hygiene and drinking. The school has close to 1000 students.
